About Architecture and Urban Design

The Architecture and Urban Design Program at the GUC is an internationally recognized study program dedicated to build awareness, create a deeper understanding of the discipline and advance the practice of architecture and urban design, both locally and internationally. In this context, architecture and urban design at GUC strongly focusses on building technology as an interdisciplinary field of science. The program aims at graduating professional architects, who are highly demanded both internationally and locally.

The Architecture and Urban Design Program encompasses a wide range of aspects of the discipline: Architectural and Urban Design, History of Architecture, Theory of Architecture and Urban Planning, Urban Sociology, Urban Economics, and Housing, among others. The program strives for the integration not only of architectural design and urban design, but also interdisciplinary cooperation between these disciplines. Students learn to practice architectural design and integrate it with a wide range of factors. They learn to conceive design at different scale levels, from urban planning to the detailing of buildings, they deal with proportions, light, materials, architectural meaning as well as infrastructure, traffic, economy, and ecology.
